           Logan

Named in honor of Chief Logan of the Mingo tribe, the town was established by Gov. Thomas Worthington in 1816. Rich mineral resources in the area  led to coal, clay and iron ore industries being established.

The Hocking Canal, completed in 1838, took many of these goods to market.
Evidence of the industry can be seen in the many brick houses and abandoned kilns of the area.
